The Suntree Turkeytrot 5K and 10K has been a holiday tradition each Thanksgiving morning at the Suntree Country Club for the past 13 years under the direction of Steve and Tandy Baerst. It is with mixed emotions that Steve and Tandy decided to step down as race organizers. As a result, we are excited to announce that the Suntree Turkey Trot will become a Running Zone Foundation event for 2017.
We are extremely thankful that Steve and Tandy had the confidence and trust in Running Zone Foundation to allow us to assume the race responsibilities of such a wonderful holiday tradition.
Below is information about our organization.
RUNNING ZONE FOUNDATION
Running Zone Foundation has deep local roots. The owners of Running Zone, Don and Denise Piercy, have organized hundreds of running and walking events in Brevard County since 2003 and have donated proceeds from these events to various nonprofit organizations.
In September 2008, Don and Denise established the Running Zone Foundation, Inc. to formalize their commitment to health and fitness programs in our community.
The Foundation was established as a 501 (c) (3) organization with the purpose of promoting exercise and fitness in our community.
The Foundation’s charter is to promote and encourage health and fitness in our community through running, jogging, walking and related educational programs and publications.
Running Zone Foundation has a local race series (seven 5k or less events) a Corporate 5K, the Excalibur 10 Miler and Dragon Slayer 2 Miler, and 2 kids only races all benefiting local charities, foundations, and non-profit organizations.
